3 PEAKS CHALLENGE 2009
Teams from both Harlow Timber Systems Ltd and Westleigh Ltd were pushed to their physical and mental extremes.
The 3 Peaks Challenge is a climb of the highest peak in each of the three countries in mainland Britain within 24 hrs, this also includes the time taken to travel between the three peaks.
The three Peaks are BEN NEVIS (Scotland), SCAFELL PIKE (England) and SNOWDON (Wales). The challenge was undertaken by a team consisting of myself, David Stockill, Rob Watson, Phil Alves, Matt Parker and a support team of Noel Davenport.
The challenge consisted of 38.5Km (24miles) of walking and ascending 3020 metres (9910ft) during the 24 hrs along with driving the 700Km (435miles) between the three mountains.
Why you may ask???
Well the challenge was to be a demanding test of stamina, logistics, sheer willpower, and lunacy, but in the end prooved both challenging and rewarding for all who took part.
The challenge brought together a group of men that were willing to help and support each other, very simular to the present working enviroment.
It was also our aim to raise money for a local Trust – The Matt Hampson Trust.
The aim was to achieve the challenge in less than 24 hrs, which we all did just.
Times recorded were sub 20 Hours upto to 23 hours 57 mins...
